Who is responsible
statsdota.com is run by the small StatsDota team (private individuals, not a company). For any data question, message Dmitrii on Telegram — link at the bottom of this page.
Steam sign-in
You can only sign in with Steam. Steam tells us your public Steam ID — your password and email are never sent to us.
After sign-in your browser gets the sd_session cookie: a signed Steam ID, HttpOnly, SameSite=Lax. It lasts 30 days; «Sign out» deletes it immediately.
For signed-in users the site database stores: Steam ID, Dota 2 account number, first and last sign-in dates.
What you save
Hero grids, tier lists and builds you save to your account are stored on the server with your account number. Only the ones you mark as public are public.
Drafts and local grids without sign-in stay in your browser (localStorage), together with the theme and menu state. We never receive them.
Player and match statistics
Player profiles and matches on the site are public Dota 2 game data. We cache them so pages load faster. If you hide your matches in Dota 2 settings, new matches won't appear.
Yandex Metrica
To see which sections are useful we use Yandex Metrica: it sets its own cookies and collects anonymised visit data — pages, navigation, clicks, device type, approximate region. Session Replay (Webvisor) is on: it records page interactions — scrolling, mouse movement, clicks.
Yandex processes Metrica data under its own terms. You can opt out with a blocker or Yandex's Metrica opt-out extension.
Other cookies
The theme cookie (light or dark) lasts up to a year. There are no advertising cookies — there are no ads.
Retention and deletion
Account data and saved grids are kept while you use the site. Message us on Telegram from the same Steam account and we'll delete the account and everything saved. The public stats cache is refreshed and overwritten automatically.
We don't sell or share data with third parties other than Yandex Metrica described above.
